SHADOW SANDS

I’d been looking for some red sand dunes to shoot and I knew we’d find some beauties on the west coast of Australia. The earth of this land is millions of years old, and remnant iron oxides have turned it a deep rich red. I wanted to shoot these dunes at Cape Peron at sunset so the soft afternoon light would underline the ridges left on them by the prevailing south-westerly winds and the long shadows in the foreground would fall in to the darkness of night.
