Some locations you have to return to time and time again to get the shot you’re after, but not this one. I got lucky one pre-dawn as the waves took an unusual break from pounding this notoriously fierce rock shelf. Always exposed to the southerly swell this spot rarely offers up the ethereal calm I was able to capture here that morning. Every time I look at this shot, it instills a feeling of peace. The meditative effect it has over me is why it’s one of the chosen pieces hanging on my wall at home.
